Recess is exclusively online, meaning that you can attend from just about anywhere in the world! So long as you have an internet connection, you’ll be able to participate fully in each session!

Recess is not a class or workshop; instead, the purpose of Recess is to answer those questions that so many artists face: How do I stay engaged? Who can I ask for feedback? Who can keep me accountable?

In short, Recess is a response to the need for community. Yes, artists do need time to be in the studio and focus on creating without distractions, but it’s also important to remember that art is not made in a vacuum, and engaging with a community that understands and respects the creative process can be immensely beneficial for one’s creative growth.

After signing up for Recess, you will receive an email that includes the following:

• A receipt for your purchase
• A welcome and introductory email – this will cover the basics of Recess, from how to join the live sessions to accessing the Circle Community Group, and everything in between!
• Your first payment will be charged when you sign up during the open registration period (February 1–28, 2026). If you choose to continue past the 30-day money-back guarantee, your next payment will be charged on April 1, 2026.

Each 2 hour Recess session takes place on Saturday at 12pm Mountain Time and Wednesday at 10am Mountain Time.

Yes! Each Recess session is live and streamed via Zoom. Each session will also be recorded, so if you miss a session (or want to rewatch a previous session), you’ll be able to rewatch it whenever you want.

Recess is an online community that meets twice a week for a two 2 hour sessions where participants work on their own projects and art from their own studio spaces. People can share art, information, and offer support to one another, all while creating alongside one another with Stacy, Ferris, and other members of the Recess team.

Supportive Sessions are initimate meetings where Stacy gives direct feedback. Work, mindset and/or process are discussed, in a one-on-one setting or in a group of up to 8 artists.

Yes! All the live sessions are recorded. They will be available to view in our private Circle Community 24-48 hours after the conclusion of the session.

No. You can watch them as often as you like for up to 1 year after the session date.

Recess is comprised of 3 elements – the Saturday live sessions, the Wednesday live sessions, and our private Circle group. All of the Saturday and Wednesday live sessions are streamed live via Zoom, and after registering for Recess, you will be sent a syllabus which will include the Zoom link for each session.

You will also be sent an invitation to join the private Circle group upon registering for Recess. Joining the Circle group is free, and while it is far from required, doing so will only enhance your ability to fully participate in Recess.

Yes, of course, this is technically possible. However, because this is a video demonstration class and we will also be looking at artwork, it is best to watch and participate on the largest screen you have access to.

Once a session begins, the recording is active. If you participate with your camera and mic active, your video and audio will be part of the recording, as will anything you screenshare during the session. Those recordings are available exclusively to participants for a full year after the date of the Recess session. Videos and still shots may be used for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be recorded, you can turn off your camera and/or mic at any time. Here are some helpful articles if you do not already know how to do that:

You will be able to watch each session within the private Circle group. Please allow for 24-28 hours after each session concludes for it to be posted in the private Circle group.

No one other than Stacy, her assistant Ferris Martinez, and the participants of that specific class group are allowed access to the group. Any work posted is subject to comments from Recess and Stacy – feedback is part of the learning process. No harassment or bullying will be tolerated. No participant is obligated to post or comment in the group. Because this is a learning environment, Stacy may use posted work for teaching/educational purposes but will not share the name of the creator of the work during that educational use. Work may be used for promotional purposes but the creator will not be identified. Stacy may use any comments about the class as testimonial.

If for some reason a specific session is cancelled, it will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

New enrollments are opened at the end of each month to individuals on the waitlist as spots become available.
