Recess is exclusively online, meaning that you can attend from just about anywhere in the world! So long as you have an internet connection, you’ll be able to participate fully in each session!

Recess is not a class or workshop; instead, the purpose of Recess is to answer those questions that so many artists face: how do I stay engaged? Who can I ask for feedback? Who can keep me accountable?

In short, Recess is a response to the need for community. Yes, artists do need time to be in the studio and focus on creating without distractions, but it’s also important to remember that art is not made in a vacuum, and engaging with a community that understands and respects the creative process can be immensely beneficial for one’s creative growth.

After signing up for Recess, you will be sent an email that will include the following:

• A receipt for your purchase
• An intoductory email – this will cover the basics of Recess, from how to join the live sessions to accessing the Circle group, and everything in between! Please note everyone will be granted access to the private Circle group on March 31st.
• Please be certain to check your spam/junk email folders after registering!

Each 2 hour Recess session takes place on Saturday at 12pm Mountain Time. The first Recess session starts on April 5th, 2025.

There are 2 sign up options for Recess:

• $39 per month

Your first payment goes through on the day you register for Recess.

Remember that the first Recess session starts on April 5th, 2025. After the first Recess session, you have 30 days to request a refund, no questions asked.

If you remain in Recess at the monthly rate, your 2nd payment will automatically proccess on May 1st, 2025. After your 2nd payment, all subsequent payments will occur on the 5th of each month.

Yes! Each Recess session is live and streamed via Zoom. Each session will also be recorded, so if you miss a session (or want to rewatch a previous session), you’ll be able to rewatch it whenever you want.

Recess is an online community that meets once a week for a two hour session where participants work on their own projects and art from their own studio spaces. People can share art, information, and offer support to one another, all while creating alongside one another with Stacy, Ferris, and other guest presenters.

Supportive Sessions are initimate meetings where Stacy gives direct feedback. Work, mindset and/or process are discussed, in a one-on-one setting or in a group of up to 8 artists.

Yes! All the live sessions are recorded. They will be available to view in our private Circle Community 24-48 hours after the conclusion of the session.

No. You can watch them as often as you like for up to 1 year after the session date.

Recess is comprised of 2 elements – the Saturday live sessions, and our private Circle group. All of the Saturday live sessions are streamed live via Zoom, and after registering for Recess, you will be sent a syllabus which will include the Zoom link for each session. Please note that the first Recess session takes place on April 5th!

An invitation to join the private Circle group will be sent out to all particpants on March 24th. Joining the Circle group is free, and while it is far from required, doing so will only enhance your ability to fully participate in Recess.

Yes, of course, this is technically possible. However, because this is a video demonstration class and we will also be looking at artwork, it is best to watch and participate on the largest screen you have access to.

Once a session begins, the recording is active. If you participate with your camera and mic active, your video and audio will be part of the recording, as will anything you screenshare during the session. Those recordings are available exclusively to participants for a full year after the date of the Recess session. Videos and still shots may be used for promotional purposes. Any work posted is subject to comments from Recess and Stacy – feedback is part of the learning process. No harassment or bullying will be tolerated. No participant is obligated to post or comment in the group. Because this is a learning environment, Stacy may use posted work for teaching/educational purposes but will not share the name of the creator of the work during that educational use. Work may be used for promotional purposes but the creator will not be identified. Stacy may use any comments about the class as testimonial.

If for some reason a specific session is cancelled, it will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

We understand that Recess may not be for everyone, and we want to accommodate you whenever possible. If you find that Recess is not the right fit for you, we offer refunds as long as the request is made before April 30th at 11:59 PM Mountain Time.

For monthly subscribers: If you cancel your enrollment, you will need to re-enroll when enrollment reopens on February 1, 2026, and you will be required to pay the current rate at that time.

For annual subscribers: If you have paid for the year, you may cancel at the end of your term, but no refunds will be given for any portion of the annual subscription during the active term.
