In this innovative art class, we will delve into various prompts and exercises designed to push the boundaries of how we perceive and portray the face. Unlike traditional portrait drawing classes, “Beyond Likeness” focuses on deconstructing the face and reconstructing it through layers of mixed media, collage, drawing, and painting. Our goal is not to capture the likeness of a particular face but to express the essence and emotions behind the face.

Via our private Circle Group, you’ll be able to personally interact with Stacy, ask questions and receive feedback!

With the energy of a refreshed community, updated mixed-media techniques, and the chance for direct interaction and personalized feedback from Stacy, this round provides the perfect moment to refine and rediscover your practice with greater confidence and expressive freedom.

Yes! Each of the 4, 2-hour Teaching Sessions – as well as the 4, 2-hour Open Studio Sessions – are streamed live via Zoom. Each 2-hour session is comprised of a lecture, followed by a demonstration. Time permitting, Stacy will answer questions at the end of each lecture. Each of the 4, 2-hour open studio sessions are live and an opportunity for us all to work together in our own studios. They are also an opportunity to create community and ask questions.

And remember, in between each live session, participants will be able to ask questions via the private Circle group.

Yes! All 8 sessions are recorded. They will be available to view in our private Circle Community 24-48 hours after the conclusion of the session.

No. You can watch them as often as you like for up to 1 year – January 1, 2027 – after the Beyond Likeness workshop ends, but they cannot be downloaded.

The Beyond Likeness online workshop is comprised of 8 elements: the 4 Live Teaching sessions, 4 Open Studio sessions and our Private Circle group. Each of the 8 sessions are streamed live via Zoom – after registering for the Beyond Likeness online workshop, you will be sent a syllabus which will include the Zoom link for each session.

An invitation to join the private Circle group will be sent out to all particpants on December 27, 2025. Membership in the Circle group is included as part of your tuition; while joining it is far from required, doing so will only enhance your ability to fully participate in the Beyond Likeness online workshop.

Yes, of course, this is technically possible. However, because this is a video demonstration class and we will also be looking at artwork, it is best to watch and participate on the largest screen you have access to.

For the Beyond Likeness Online Workshop, the primary method of communication will be via our private Circle group. Here, you will be able to chat with the other participants, post work, leave comments, as well as ask Stacy and her assistant Ferris questions. And of course, participation in the Circle group is voluntary! On the note of asking questions, we do ask that you post questions that are of a more inquisitive, investigative nature – the more specific and direct you are, the better we are able to help!

Once a session begins, the recording is active. If you participate with your camera and mic active, your video and audio will be part of the recording, as will anything you screenshare during the session. Those recordings are available exclusively to participants for a full year after the end of the workshop. Videos and still shots may be used for promotional purposes. You will be able to watch each session within the private Circle group. Please allow for 24-28 hours after each session concludes for it to be posted in the private Circle group. You’ll be able to watch all recordings and access all workshop related materials until January 1, 11:59 pm MNT, 2027!

No one other than Stacy, her assistant Ferris Martinez, and the participants of that specific class group are allowed access to the group. Any work posted is subject to comments from the class and Stacy – feedback is part of the learning process. No harassment or bullying will be tolerated. No participant is obligated to post or comment in the group. Because this is a learning environment, Stacy may use posted work for teaching/educational purposes but will not share the name of the creator of the work during that educational use. Work may be used for promotional purposes but the creator will not be identified. Stacy may use any comments about the class as testimonial.

While the final session for the Beyond Likeness workshop takes place on February 3, 2026, both Stacy and her assistant Ferris will continue to monitor the Circle group through February 8, 2026. After that date, only questions of a technical nature will be answered – for example, questions about log in credentials, or viewing/accessing workshop materials, etc. You’ll also be able access all recordings and workshop-related materials up to January 1, 11:59 pm MNT, 2027!
